Sudan Events – Agencies
Arsenal secured a valuable 2-0 win against hosts Aston Villa in the second round of the English Premier League on Saturday. The London team claimed the three points with two second-half goals. Belgian Leandro Trossard opened the scoring in the 67th minute, just seconds after coming on as a substitute.
Midfielder Thomas Partey added the second goal in the 77th minute with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
This win raises Arsenal’s points tally to 6, giving them a perfect record so far, putting them level with Brighton and defending champions Manchester City, while Aston Villa remains on 3 points.
Arsenal also avenged last season’s defeats to Aston Villa, which were among the reasons the London team lost the league title to Manchester City, who won it for the fourth consecutive season.
Arsenal faces a tough test in the next round as they host Brighton at the Emirates Stadium on August 31st, while Aston Villa will visit Leicester City, who have only managed one point in their first two matches.
