At a Cost of $57 Million… Plan to Distribute 16 Million Bed Nets Across the States

On Monday, the high committee for the campaign to distribute impregnated bed nets for the year 2025, targeting the distribution of 16 million impregnated bed nets in 14 states, met. The project is implemented by the Federal Ministry of Health in partnership with UNICEF and with support from the Global Fund for Malaria Grants. The meeting was chaired by the acting Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohammed Ibrahim – Chairman of the High Committee, and included Dr. Dalia Idris, Director-General of Primary Care, Dr. Sarah Azhari, Director of Disease Control, Adil Khalifa, Director of Environmental Health and Food Control, a representative from UNICEF, and several departments of the Federal Ministry of Health and partners from organizations and experts in emergencies and epidemic control. The UNICEF representative emphasized the importance of the project and its integrated implementation with the commencement of buying the bed nets as a first step, hoping that the project would be the cornerstone for combating malaria in Sudan, highlighting the necessity of coordination to ensure successful project implementation. The Minister of Health announced the approval of the plan presented regarding the technical procedures (crossings, distribution, routes, preparation) and the immediate start in the technical aspects with partners. The cost of the bed net project amounts to $57 million, accounting for 49% of the total grant.
