Ministry of Finance Moves Towards Implementing the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS)
Sudan Events – Reports
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, announced the ministry’s plan to implement the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS). This system aims to digitalize public financial management processes, starting from budget preparation and execution to accounting and reporting, as part of the government’s preparation for digital transformation. During a discussion on the ministry’s plan to implement the IFMIS system, the minister emphasized that the system would help restore the state’s memory, which was lost due to the war. It also ensures the control of public revenues and their entry into the general government account, besides providing a true picture of the comprehensive budget. The current state budget only reflects the central government, excluding the states. The minister stressed the importance of developing the experience of partnership within the country and abroad while working to develop the partnership law to serve the development of the national economy.
Meanwhile, Abdullah Ibrahim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and supervisor of the digital transformation plan, revealed efforts to approve the Public Finance Law in coordination with relevant authorities to develop the financial system and control government performance. This will be achieved with the help of expert houses and by seeking funding and technical assistance from international financial institutions to support the implementation of the necessary technological systems for the country’s digital transformation. Muhammad Bashar, Undersecretary for Planning at the Ministry of Finance, underscored the importance of implementing the system to develop macroeconomic performance, development, policies, and external financing. He commended the efforts made in preparing the ministry’s plan to implement the integrated system.
