Nations League: Timber Twins Return to Dutch Squad
Sudan Events – Agencies
Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman has included Jurrien Timber in his 23-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, following his recovery from a long-term injury.
The Arsenal defender suffered a serious knee injury at the start of last season and returned to play in April but was not included in the national team for Euro 2024.
Timber is one of four players added to the squad for the Nations League Group C matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 7 in Eindhoven, and Germany at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam on September 10.
Timber, who has 15 international caps, last played for the national team in March 2023 when they lost 4-0 to France in Paris.
His twin brother, Quinten, who plays for Feyenoord, was also called up for the second time, having made his debut against Germany last March.
Young Ajax defender Jorrel Hato (18) returns to the squad after his last appearance in November and subsequent exclusion from selections.
Nick Olij replaces Justin Bijlow, whose move to Southampton from Feyenoord fell through this week after failing a medical.
Steven Bergwijn, Memphis Depay, Stefan de Vrij, and Georginio Wijnaldum, all excluded from the Euro 2024 squad, remain out, while Frenkie de Jong is still injured, and Daley Blind has retired from international football.
