Helicopter Carrying 22 People Disappears in Eastern Russia

A Russian helicopter carrying a crew of three and 19 passengers has disappeared in the far east of the country.
The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency said in a statement that the MI-8 helicopter took off near the Vachkazhets volcano in the Kamchatka region but did not reach its destination as scheduled.
It also added that it believes 19 passengers and three crew members were on board the helicopter.
The MI-8 is a twin-engine helicopter designed in the 1960s.
The helicopter is widely used in Russia, where crashes are common, as well as in neighboring countries and many other states.
