Land Transport between Egypt and Sudan Halted
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Land transportation between Egypt and Sudan has stopped. The General Directorate of Highways in the Red Sea State announced on Friday that the road connecting Egypt and Sudan has been cut off due to rains and floods. According to the “Sudan News” website, the Red Sea State has witnessed heavy rains for several weeks, leading to severe floods and high water levels in some areas.
The rains have caused the international road connecting Egypt and Sudan to be cut off in the Arous area at kilometers 17 and 20. The Rapid Transit Directorate in the Red Sea State attributed this to the floods and the overflow of water from the Arbaat Dam, which collapsed last week due to high water levels, resulting in significant loss of life and property, isolating several villages in the Qaneb and Olib areas.
