Morocco Achieves Record Number of Tourists

The Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts, under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, reported that Morocco recorded a record number of tourists, reaching 10 million in July 2024, an increase of 15% compared to the same period last year. The directorate explained in its latest bulletin that “Morocco welcomed a record number of 2.6 million tourists in July 2024, with a growth rate of 20%.”
Regarding tourism revenues, the second quarter of 2024 ended with a momentum of 9.4%, raising its growth to 2.3% last June. Morocco’s tourism recovery plan expects to receive 26 million tourists annually by 2030.
Tourism was the second-largest source of foreign exchange in Morocco during 2023, after remittances from expatriates abroad, which amounted to approximately 11.5 billion dollars, according to data from the Exchange Office in the Kingdom. Tourism continues to achieve continuous growth, especially after the sector’s revenues surpassed 10 billion dollars for the first time in 2023, following the reception of 14.5 million tourists.
