White Nile Confirms Readiness to Combat Agricultural Pests

The Plant Protection Department in White Nile State announced its readiness to combat locust and bird pests to protect the summer agricultural season crops.
The Director of Plant Protection in the state, Dr. Al-Bashir Khalifa, said, according to the Sudan News Agency, that proactive protection and pest control have contributed significantly to establishing crops for the summer rainy mechanized and traditional agricultural seasons.
He confirmed that his department managed to combat the rodent pest early on despite the challenges and circumstances facing the country.
Khalifa announced the department’s readiness to combat all types of locust and bird pests, adding that locust and bird pesticides are available in the Plant Protection Department’s warehouses. The Federal Plant Protection Department has contracted a company to carry out the control program in case of any bird sightings.
He pointed out that the department received some information about the beginning of bird arrivals in the southern forests of the state.
