Meteorological Authority Warns of Floods in Nine States
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The Meteorological Authority issued a red bulletin on Sunday, warning of expected floods in nine Sudanese states.
The authority’s statement indicated that “very heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in the states of Northern, Nile River, Kassala, Gedaref, Khartoum, Blue Nile, North and South Kordofan, and North Darfur.”
It noted that these expected rains “could lead to floods,” necessitating precautionary measures to avoid loss of life and property.
The local authorities in these states were urged to take the highest levels of precaution and readiness, and citizens were advised to be cautious and avoid riverbeds, valleys, and potentially collapsing buildings.
