Militia Puts Sudan’s Artifacts Up for Sale
Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Reliable sources reported that a wide-scale looting and smuggling operation targeted the contents and exhibits of the Sudan National Museum, located within the area controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Khartoum since the early days of the war.
Satellite images showed that trucks loaded with items left the museum early in the year and headed towards the border with South Sudan, according to these sources.
The same sources suggested to the “SBC” website that the trucks’ cargo was likely exhibits from the museum. The Sudan National Museum contains artifacts, statues, and valuable historical and national items.
Sources close to the matter told the site that some of the museum’s contents have indeed been displayed for sale online and on social media, though it is not confirmed whether the sales have been completed. “SBC” obtained video evidence confirming the sale of the National Museum’s contents.
