Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty emphasized that Egypt faces both urgent and prolonged crises and must address these issues according to international law and conventions, while safeguarding its national security. He stated, “We face crises in the northeast (Gaza), the west (Libya), and the south (Sudan), which is one of the most dangerous crises. What is happening in Sudan is a matter of Egyptian national security.”
During his meeting with Egyptian media leaders, Abdel Aty added, “Egypt spoke on behalf of Sudan in Geneva after General Burhan refused to participate, and we rejected any punitive measures from other countries due to this non-participation. Egypt has no hidden agenda in Sudan, which is why everyone appreciates our role in resolving the crisis.” He continued, “The Geneva round was revealing, and we are the most affected party by the crisis in Sudan. We are keen to support the legitimacy and the Sudanese army, and if the Sudanese army collapses (God forbid), the state would fall, and the division plan would begin.”
