Chinese Mining Company Prepares to Resume Operations in Sudan

The General Manager of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Taher Omer, participated in the 9th China-Africa Cooperation Forum as part of Sudan’s delegation led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
On Thursday, Omer visited the headquarters of Norinco, a Chinese arms manufacturer, where he reviewed their experience in the mineral industry. He also met with the management of Norinco’s mining division to discuss the company’s return to Sudan, which is expected to produce around 6 to 7 tons of gold annually.
Omer will also meet with representatives from other countries to explore mutual cooperation in mining and present investment opportunities available in Sudan’s mining sector.
