Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Friday for “more weapons” from allied nations meeting in Germany to help repel Russian forces in eastern Ukraine, particularly in the Donetsk region.
During a meeting of Kyiv’s allies at the U.S. military base in Ramstein, western Germany, Zelensky said, “The world has enough air defense systems to ensure that Russian terrorism achieves no results, and I urge you to be more active in working with us in the area of air defense.” He also called for the use of long-range missiles “not only on occupied territories in Ukraine but also on Russian territory.”
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced new military aid for Ukraine worth $250 million at a time when Kyiv seeks to counter Russian advances in eastern Ukraine and repel Moscow’s bombardments.
