Iraq Confirms Meteor Burnt in its Atmosphere
Sudan Events – Agencies
The Iraqi Meteorological Authority revealed today (Saturday) the truth about the fall of a meteor in Iraqi territory, stating that the light seen yesterday (Friday) was due to a meteor burning in the atmosphere. In a press release, reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the authority mentioned that “the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismology is monitoring what is being circulated on social media regarding the fall of a meteor in Iraq, which has caused confusion among citizens.”
Salman Saddam Al-Bahadly, head of the Seismology Department, clarified, “After receiving several inquiries about the light seen in Syria, Turkey, and Iraq, with some believing it was caused by earthquake lightning, the light was actually due to a meteor burning in the atmosphere.” He emphasized that there is no connection between earthquakes and burning meteors, reassuring that “there is nothing to worry about.”
