Militia Violations Halt Collective Kitchens and Humanitarian Activities in Khartoum

Sudan Events – Reports
On Saturday, the Jabal Awliya Emergency Room in southern Khartoum decided to suspend some collective kitchens and humanitarian activities indefinitely due to violations by the RSF militia.
The Emergency Room announced the suspension in a statement, citing the need to protect volunteers amid challenges, including arrests and harassment. The most recent incident involved the arrest of the head of the supply office by the RSF.
The statement emphasized that protecting civilians and volunteers, and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid, is a fundamental part of international humanitarian law. The emergency rooms have no political or military affiliation and are solely concerned with providing humanitarian services to those affected by the war.
The Emergency Room stressed that these arrests and harassments are a clear violation of international humanitarian law, which mandates special protection for humanitarian volunteers. It also breaches UN Security Council Resolution 1296 (2000), which obliges all parties to ensure the safety of humanitarian workers.
