Sudan Events – Reports
Sudan has called on the Human Rights Council in Geneva to end the mandate of the fact-finding mission on Sudan. The country also urged exerting necessary pressure on the UAE and others to stop supporting the rebellion, which has prolonged the war, and to hold them accountable for compensating the severe damages inflicted on the Sudanese people.
Attorney General Fath Al-Tayfour revealed that Sudan had contacted six countries to extradite 16 suspects believed to be on their territories. He disclosed that over 27,000 Sudanese had been killed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
Speaking at the enhanced interactive dialogue on the Sudan fact-finding committee report during the 57th session of the Human Rights Council on Tuesday, the Attorney General stated that the militia committed widespread rape and sexual violence, with 966 victims. The militia also forcibly recruited children into battle, resulting in the deaths of 4,850 children out of 9,000 recruited, bringing the total death toll from violations to 27,594, with 42,661 injured.
He added, “The rebel militia swept through large areas of Sudan to loot and pillage and committed massacres against unarmed civilians between June and August 2024 in the Gezira and Sennar states in the villages of Wad Al-Noura, Al-Adnab, Wad Al-Asha, Jalqani, Sheikh Al-Samani, and Quz Al-Naqah, killing 419 people and injuring 420.” He also stated that the militia committed serious violations against persons with disabilities, killing eight with live ammunition. Additionally, Al-Dow Hajoug nursing home for the elderly was severely besieged, leading to the deaths of eight elderly individuals due to the lack of basic services. The militia also executed 12 civilians extrajudicially in the Wad Nobawi district of Omdurman.
He pointed out that the militia targeted civilians and civilian properties, occupying citizens’ homes and looting their contents, turning them into military barracks. A total of 540,000 civilian properties were looted and occupied, 80% of which were citizens’ homes. The militia desecrated 1,002 mosques and 51 churches, and attacked five museums, archaeological, cultural, and heritage sites, as well as archives.
