Sudan Events – Reports
The Sudanese Ambassador to China, Omar Sidiq, stated that the bilateral meeting between the President of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and Chinese President Xi Jinping confirmed the unity, security, stability, and economic support of Sudan. He also confirmed that the two presidents committed to addressing the debts between the two countries amicably.
In a TV interview on “Hadeeth al-Nas” (People’s Talk) on Nile Blue TV, Sidiq mentioned that the Chinese President pledged to provide economic support to Sudan and encouraged Chinese companies that were previously working in Sudan to return once security and stability are restored in the country.
Ambassador Sidiq further explained that one of the most significant meetings President al-Burhan held in China was with the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the company that extracted oil in Sudan during all its phases. Al-Burhan met with the company’s chairman, who promised that the company would resume its operations soon, expand its activities in oil and renewable energy, and be granted new blocks to recover its debts.
The ambassador described the visit to China as highly important and timely, saying that Sudan will soon reap its benefits. He revealed that the Chinese President donated 210 million yuan to support the Sudanese economy.
