Mbappé Rejects French League’s Offer to Resolve Financial Dispute with PSG

Sudan Events – Agencies International striker Kylian Mbappé has rejected the offer of the French Professional Football League to mediate between him and his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, to resolve their financial dispute. The player is demanding €55 million in unpaid salaries and bonuses, according to a statement from his camp on Wednesday to AFP.

The source said, “The possibility of mediation was raised this morning” during the session in front of the legal committee of the Professional Football League, adding that “the possibility was rejected during the session by the player’s representative.”

The lawyers of both parties met on Wednesday morning at the invitation of the legal committee of the League, to which the captain of the French national team and current Real Madrid forward turned for assistance.

Paris Saint-Germain welcomed the request for mediation in a press release, stating it had “been seeking it for many months.”

For several weeks, Mbappé has been at odds with PSG, who found themselves forced to let go of their star player this summer without compensation after his contract expired. He is demanding unpaid salaries and bonuses from the capital club.

According to Le Monde, Mbappé is demanding €55 million, which includes “the last third of his signing bonus (a total of €36 million), which the player was supposed to receive in February, as well as the salaries for the last three months of his contract—April, May, and June—along with an ‘ethical bonus’ for these three months.”

The newspaper also noted that Mbappé contacted UEFA through the French Football Federation to resolve this issue.

Earlier this year, both parties stated that Mbappé had given up part of his bonuses in an agreement with PSG last summer, after being sidelined from the team for a month.

These bonuses were estimated at between €60 and €70 million at the time, according to a source close to the club. These bonuses cover the financial damage caused by the player’s departure to Real Madrid without compensation after his contract ended.

According to a source close to the case, Mbappé’s unpaid salary in April is related to this agreement made in the summer of 2023 between the player and the capital club.
