Russia Shoots Down Three Drones Over the Murmansk Region in the Arctic
Sudan Events – Agencies
Russia shot down three drones on Wednesday in the Murmansk region of the Russian Arctic, more than 2,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, according to the local governor. Governor Andrei Chibis said on Telegram: “Our region was attacked by hostile drones,” confirming that “all measures are being taken to enhance security,” as reported by AFP. He later noted that “the three drones” involved in the attack, which significantly disrupted operations at Murmansk Airport, “were shot down.” Russia announces almost daily the interception of Ukrainian drones launched over its territory, though it is rare for these unmanned aircraft to carry out strikes on the country. On Tuesday, a woman was killed, according to Russian authorities, after a Ukrainian drone attack hit a residential building in the Moscow region, which rarely faces such attacks. Kyiv confirmed the execution of these attacks in response to Russian bombing, which has targeted its territory for more than two and a half years.
