During the 57th session of the Human Rights Council, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its supportive stance towards Sudan and its people.
In a statement delivered by Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Majed bin Khothila, during the interactive dialogue on the oral update of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan, the kingdom emphasized the need to protect Sudan and its people from further destruction and the worsening of the dire humanitarian situation.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the kingdom stressed the need to protect civilians and aid workers and ensure the safety of humanitarian corridors to deliver essential aid.
Saudi Arabia called for prioritizing the interests of the Sudanese people and stopping the conflict to safeguard state institutions and guide Sudan toward safety.
The kingdom also highlighted its hosting of the Jeddah talks between the two parties in the Sudanese crisis, reaffirming its commitment to ending the conflict through political dialogue in the best interest of the Sudanese people.
Saudi Arabia urged the international community to commit to protecting Sudan and its people and working toward restoring security and stability in the country, welcoming international efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving peace in Sudan.
The kingdom also expressed its condolences to the Sudanese people over the collapse of a dam in the Red Sea state, which resulted in human casualties.
