Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani described relations with Tehran as “strong.” At a press conference with Bozchekian, he said, “The security services in both countries continue to work to secure the borders and prevent smuggling.” Bozchekian added that Tehran needs to sign new security agreements with Iraq as “the enemy that threatens both countries is one.” Al-Sudani and Bozchekian also presided over the signing of 14 memoranda of understanding covering areas such as the economy, training cooperation, and the management of religious tourism groups. The Iranian president noted that these memoranda represent a new beginning of cooperation between the two sides.
