Sudan Events – Follow-ups
On Thursday, the representative of the Governor of Northern State, Major General (ret.) Kamal Musa, launched a medical companies’ initiative to support health emergencies at the headquarters of the Popular Resistance in Dongola. This was done in coordination with the National Health Professional Group and the General Administration of Pharmacy and Poisons at the state’s Ministry of Health.
During his speech at the event, the Governor’s representative praised the medical companies’ initiative and the role of the Civil Support Committee and the Pharmacy and Poisons Administration in addressing health emergencies and countering the negative health impacts of the rainy season, especially the spread of diseases like cholera.
He emphasized that the people of Northern State have been resilient in the face of war, rains, and floods. However, he pointed out that the current challenge, which requires combined efforts from both official and popular entities, is to confront diseases and epidemics.
The Governor’s representative brought good news to the state’s residents, announcing that a permanent solution to the electricity problem was near, thanks to the approval of 40 electricity transformers by the Transitional Sovereignty Council. He also noted the council’s interest in ensuring the success of the upcoming winter agricultural season and the operation of regional airports in Dongola, Merowe, and Atbara in the near future.
