Pope Warns of Negative Impacts of Artificial Intelligence

Sudan Events – Agencies
During his visit to Singapore on Thursday, Pope Francis warned of the negative impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) on the fabric of society, according to the German news agency. The head of the Catholic Church emphasized during a reception in the city-state that AI should not lead individuals to forget what is important, namely human relationships. He stated that technological developments risk isolating individuals and placing them in a false reality. Instead, AI should be used to bring people closer together and enhance understanding and solidarity within society.
Francis also called on the G7 nations during their summit held in Italy in June to ensure that AI is not left unchecked. Singapore is the final stop in the Pope’s longest international trip, which lasted 12 days. Prior to this, he visited Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and East Timor.
