40 billion SDG for funding agricultural areas in Gedaref

Saleh Mohammed Saleh, Director of the Eastern Sector of the Agricultural Bank in Gedaref state, confirmed that the bank has financed agricultural areas covering around 2.5 million feddans (hectares) with 40 billion Sudanese pounds. The bank has also provided pesticides and gasoline for agricultural operations.
He mentioned that the situation is now more favorable for harvesting and that the bank has provided about 80,000 sacks of fertilizer for users of agricultural technology. He reassured that the current agricultural season promises abundant yields and expects high productivity in crops like sorghum and sesame, thanks to good rainfall distribution.
The director also noted that the bank has financed all farmers who met their obligations, in addition to agricultural associations.
Despite 70% of the bank’s branches being out of service due to the war, the agricultural areas in Gedaref, exceeding 7 million feddans, promise significant production.
He urged the Supreme Committee for the Success of the Agricultural Season, security authorities, and police and military forces to provide protection to secure the agricultural crops.
