A Senior PKK Official Injured in a Turkish Strike in Northern Iraq

Sudan Events – Agencies
The Counter-Terrorism Service of Iraq’s Kurdistan region said on Monday that a Turkish drone strike killed a member of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and injured two others in northern Iraq.
The agency added in a statement: “The strike targeted a meeting of PKK members in the Makhmour camp, killing one member and injuring two others, one of whom is a senior PKK official,” according to Reuters.
Turkey frequently carries out airstrikes targeting PKK militants in northern Iraq and maintains dozens of advanced observation posts inside its territory.
The PKK has taken up arms against Ankara since 1984, initially seeking to establish an independent Kurdish state but later shifting its goal to seeking Kurdish rights and semi-autonomous governance in southeastern Turkey.
