Chad Deploys Military Reinforcements Along Sudan Border

Sudan Events – Agencies
The Chadian authorities have tightened security measures along the border with Sudan by deploying unprecedented military reinforcements along the border separating the two countries. This comes in the wake of escalating military operations in Darfur.
A Chadian government source, speaking anonymously, told “Sudan Tribune” that “the authorities of the Wadai region, adjacent to Sudan’s Darfur region, have deployed unprecedented military reinforcements along the border, fearing armed groups may infiltrate into Chad.”
The source added that the tightening of security measures followed the escalation of battles in El Fasher.
“The Chadian government fears the infiltration of armed elements from both sides of the conflict across the border, as well as the possible entry of opposition groups into Chad from Sudanese territory,” the source explained.
He further stated that the reinforcement of security and military deployment on the border is a routine procedure that any country takes in times of crisis along its borders to prevent hostile actions or the infiltration of armed groups that could threaten Chadian security.
