Militia Prevents Entry of Goods and Fuel into “Shangil Tobayi”

Sudan Events – Agencies
Traders in the Shangil Tobayi area, southwest of El Fasher, North Darfur, reported that the RSF has prevented goods trucks from entering the town, leading to rising prices and worsening living conditions for the residents.
A trader named Yaqoub Saif Al-Din, speaking to “Darfur 24,” revealed that all commercial vehicles coming from Marshej, Munawashi, Nyala, and Kass in South Darfur were barred from entering the town and were turned back.
He added that the RSF has set up dozens of checkpoints on the road linking Shangil Tobayi and Nyala, inspecting all vehicles and confiscating food supplies, goods, and tobacco coming from Marshej. The militia demands traders obtain transit permits for goods, even for just one sack of sugar.
Saif Al-Din highlighted the severe difficulties in obtaining these permits, which are often not recognized at the checkpoints, forcing vehicles to return due to incomplete paperwork.
Traders reported that the blockade on goods has caused food and fuel prices to soar, with a 50-kg bag of sugar now costing 350,000 SDG, a 25-kg bag of flour at 150,000 SDG, a 20-kg bag of rice at 160,000 SDG, and a sack of onions at 250,000 SDG, while a 36-liter jerrycan of oil now costs 75,000 SDG.
