Syrian Observatory: Iraqi faction leader killed near Damascus airport

An Iraqi Hezbollah commander was killed in a drone strike, likely carried out by Israel, while another member of the faction was wounded, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The drone reportedly targeted the commander’s vehicle early Friday on the road to Damascus International Airport.
Eyewitnesses told the Observatory that the vehicle was on fire, and the commander had a military base and a rest house in the area. It was unclear if he had left the base for the rest house or if his destination was elsewhere.
The source noted that “no loud explosions were heard like those from warplane raids, indicating that it was a precise missile strike targeting his vehicle in a precise assassination.” The area where the strike occurred is home to several military bases for Iraqi, Lebanese, and Syrian Hezbollah, as well as Iranian militias controlling farms in the area.
