Colonel Hafiz Al-Tijani, Head of the Eastern Sector Customs in Kassala, announced that the opening of the container customs station in Kassala State has significantly boosted trade in the region, contributing notable revenue to the national treasury. He reported a 601% increase in revenue targets.
In a limited press briefing on Sunday, Al-Tijani stated that Kassala Customs works in full harmony with the state government and plays a regulatory role at border points such as Karayit, Awad, Al-Liffa, and Hamdayit. He also mentioned that 80% of work at the main Al-Liffa border station has been completed, and a joint committee from the Ministry of Finance, Customs, and the police is overseeing the final stages of its renovation, with plans to officially open it for cross-border trade with Eritrea.
