On Tuesday, former President Omar al-Bashir’s lawyer said his client might need treatment outside Sudan, confirming his transfer from Khartoum to the city of Merowe for medical care.
His lawyer, Mohammed Al-Hassan Al-Amin, told Reuters that Bashir had been moved to a detention center in Merowe before receiving treatment at a hospital in the city.
He added, “He needs regular health follow-ups and checkups. He sometimes experiences complications, which require medical attention. However, his condition is not critical at the moment.”
Al-Amin indicated that some of Bashir’s symptoms remain undiagnosed and may require treatment abroad, noting that this is the first time Bashir has been moved from the capital.
