The Arab Investment Authority Affirms Cooperation with Entrepreneurs

The Chairman of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, Dr. Obeid Saif Hamed Al-Zahabi, confirmed that the Arab Authority is working to strengthen cooperation with entrepreneurs in the sustainable ecosystem by investing in startups that provide smart climate services. Through its expertise, the Authority will offer technical assistance to entrepreneurs in implementing smart climate technologies and a sustainable ecosystem. He announced during a panel discussion on “Enhancing Climate-Smart Agriculture – Moving Towards a Resilient and Sustainable Agricultural Food System” at the Future of Food Summit – Gulfood Green that the Arab Authority plans to develop a training center for knowledge exchange in the field of agribusiness to facilitate knowledge transfer between entrepreneurs and experts in the sustainable food ecosystem. He further explained that the Arab Authority has implemented several pioneering programs aimed at adopting climate-smart technologies, such as the no-till farming system, which has been applied in Sudan, Tunisia, Jordan, and Morocco. The research and development programs run by the Authority have contributed to the adoption of various modern technologies by its subsidiaries, such as comprehensive agricultural mechanization, advanced irrigation systems, and greenhouses for off-season farming. Moreover, the Authority has implemented a small farmers’ financing program based on a comprehensive technological package designed to enhance the resilience and sustainability of the agricultural food system. This package includes the use of improved and hybrid seeds resistant to stress. The Arab Authority has also initiated programs to promote the use of solar energy for irrigation, and its subsidiaries have been funded to produce biogas to meet their energy needs. He pointed out that the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development implements numerous programs aimed at transferring modern and smart agricultural technologies to increase production and productivity, thereby contributing to the strengthening of Arab food security based on sustainable development.
