Sudan Events – Correspondents
Sudanese Sovereign Council Chairman and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to support and enhance cooperation between Sudan and Turkey. Burhan briefed Erdoğan on the crimes committed by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia against civilians and their destruction of infrastructure in the country. He pointed out that the Sudanese government had responded to peace calls and participated in the Jeddah talks, which resulted in the signing of the Jeddah Agreement in May 2023, a deal that the rebel militia failed to implement.
Burhan praised the high level of cooperation between Sudan and Turkey, expressing his gratitude to Turkey for its continued support through humanitarian aid provided to citizens affected by the war, floods, and rains, and commended Turkey’s supportive stance toward Sudan in international and regional forums.
