Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
Acting Prime Minister Othman Al-Hussein emphasized the special importance of accountability and auditing, stating that the resumption of activities by the Accounting and Auditing Council is of utmost importance, given its role in ensuring transparency. While addressing the first meeting of the Accounting and Auditing Council on Thursday at the Social Security Tower in Port Sudan, he stressed the need to address shortcomings in all state institutions for continuous improvement, which falls under the council’s jurisdiction. He called on specialists and partners to work towards facilitating the council’s operations.
Al-Hussein also noted that despite the challenging circumstances caused by the ongoing war, the council has become increasingly effective. He reaffirmed his support for the council, highlighting its essential role in promoting transparency and fighting corruption through ethical commitment.
He praised the significant work of the Accounting and Auditing Council, emphasizing that it operates under the Cabinet’s authority, ensuring full cooperation for the council to carry out its duties.
Finance Minister Jibril Ibrahim stated that both the state and the Ministry of Finance rely heavily on the work of auditors and accountants. This, he said, contributes to eliminating suspicions of corruption. Ibrahim affirmed that accountability and auditing are fundamental pillars for the state, especially for the Ministry of Finance, and stressed the importance of developing operations, particularly with the shift towards digital transformation, which facilitates auditing and decision-making.
