UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, warned of intensified fighting between RSF and the Sudanese army for control of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. Türk expressed concern over the growing civilian casualties and severe rights violations, stating that civilians are trapped in the city due to unsafe roads and high costs of leaving. He warned that if El Fasher falls, there is a high risk of ethnic-based atrocities, including summary executions and sexual violence. He urged the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to take action to protect civilians in Sudan.
