Freeze on Civil Service in East Darfur
Sudan Events – Reports
The acting governor of East Darfur, Mohamed Adam Abdul Rahman, issued a decision to freeze civil service in the state, affecting all state and federal government institutions. Exemptions were made for healthcare and water institutions, which provide essential services to citizens, with education to be addressed at a later time. The decision also ordered the closure of all government offices in the state and warned that violators would face legal and criminal consequences. The governor also halted the collection of fees in agricultural and livestock markets and administrative fees in localities, except for local water and healthcare fees. He added that discussions with relevant authorities will take place to determine how to pay employees’ salaries electronically after review and verification. All directors of ministries, federal institutions, and locality executives were instructed to implement the decision immediately.
