Al-Ahdath – Reports
Egypt has begun intensifying efforts within the African Union to address the situation in Sudan, with its upcoming chairmanship of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council in October 2024. Egypt aims to push for peaceful solutions to the Sudanese crisis.
Ambassador Mohamed Gad, Egypt’s permanent representative to the African Union, stated that the council would visit Port Sudan, marking the first visit since the outbreak of war in Sudan.
This visit aims to enhance solidarity with the Sudanese people and support the institutions of the Sudanese state.
This step is part of Egypt’s role in guiding the council and the African Union toward closely examining the situation in Sudan and encouraging the council to take responsibility in supporting the peace process.
