Seaports Complain of Land Encroachment
Sudan Events – Reports
The Sudanese Seaports Authority revealed what it described as a “blatant and irresponsible” encroachment on its land, which is an integral part of the western port’s southern and eastern borders at the Red Sea’s edge.
In a statement, the Authority said it has been monitoring and following up on the encroachment by an entity that has started constructing civilian facilities, which it considers a threat to the security of Port Sudan, home to the administrative capital.
The statement condemned this encroachment and questioned which authority granted permission, affirming that the land belongs to the Authority and was previously leased to maritime security to safeguard the port’s security. The statement called on the relevant authorities, particularly Urban Planning, to put an end to this encroachment.
