29 killed in Israeli airstrike on Gaza as rockets are fired from the Strip

Medics reported that Israeli airstrikes on various parts of Gaza killed at least 29 Palestinians on Friday, while sirens sounded in southern Israel after renewed rocket fire from the Palestinian enclave. The new rocket attacks indicate that armed groups led by Hamas in Gaza remain capable of launching rockets at Israel, despite the ongoing Israeli air and ground offensive, which has turned large areas of the Strip into rubble. On Friday, the Israeli army said, according to Reuters, that sirens went off in southern Israel for the first time in nearly two months. Referring to the anniversary of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack that sparked the Gaza war, the Israeli military added: “Almost a year after October 7, Hamas continues to threaten our civilians with its terrorism, and we will continue our operations against them.”
