Sudan Events – Rehab Abdulla
On Wednesday, the Sudanese Gum Arabic Exporters Union will disburse 80 million Sudanese pounds in financial support to gum producers and sector partners in Port Sudan, distributed through gum-exporting companies. The support will be allocated to registered producer associations with the Forestry Department, the Gum Arabic Council, and other relevant organizations.
Ahmed Al-Anan, head of the Exporters Union, stated that 25 million pounds will go to associations registered with the Forestry Department, 25 million pounds to those registered with the Gum Arabic Council, 10 million pounds to those registered with the Sectoral Producers Union, and 13 million pounds to purchase seedlings for free distribution to producers. Additionally, 5 million pounds will support the Seed Bank, 3 million pounds for research at the University of Kordofan’s Gum Arabic Research Center, and 3 million pounds for the UNESCO Chair for Gum Arabic at the University of Khartoum. Various other departments related to exports will also receive support.
Al-Anan added that the union aims to ensure comprehensive sector support as partial planning from a single party hinders overall sector development.
