Entilaq, an intellectual institution that provides consulting services and capacity-building programs to support the entrepreneurship sector in Egypt, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Savannah, a Sudanese business incubator and consulting company aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Sudan’s entrepreneurship sector. The agreement aims to support Sudanese migrant entrepreneurs in Egypt.
This partnership aims to assist Sudanese entrepreneurs by integrating their businesses into the formal economy through comprehensive support, training, and consultancy.
The partnership seeks to implement several interventions to enhance the social and economic status of Sudanese entrepreneurs in Egypt. The main objectives outlined in the agreement focus on integrating Sudanese entrepreneurs into Egypt’s entrepreneurship sector, providing training and financial support, and promoting economic integration by incorporating them into the formal economy. Intilaq and Savannah will also conduct thorough research to identify challenges and propose policies that facilitate their integration and address the needs of migrant entrepreneurs, creating a smoother path for their success in Egypt’s business environment.
Additionally, both parties will design an incubator program tailored to their needs based on the data and research findings, which will include workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs aimed at equipping entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the Egyptian market. Business clinics will also be offered to help entrepreneurs overcome challenges, alongside legal and financial advisory services to guide them through the process of organizing and growing their businesses.
On this occasion, Omar Rizk, co-founder and General Manager of Intilaq, stated: “This agreement is an important step towards a more inclusive entrepreneurship sector in Egypt. Migrant entrepreneurs have immense potential that will significantly contribute to the growth of Egypt’s economy, and our partnership with Savannah will provide them with the support they need to succeed.”
He added, “Intilaq will organize a series of interviews and discussions to identify the specific challenges faced by Sudanese entrepreneurs. These findings will be analyzed, and policy proposals will be shared with relevant stakeholders. Additionally, we aim to create an incubator program that develops their capabilities.”
Yousef Majed Yousef Yahya, founder and General Manager of Savannah, said: “Throughout history, there has always been a strong bond between Egypt and Sudan. This partnership between Intilaq and Savannah represents the latest chapter in this ongoing and extended relationship between the two countries. We will work together to ensure that Sudanese youth and businesses operating in Egypt can integrate into the Egyptian economy and entrepreneurship sector, adding value to their communities and acquiring the skills necessary for success, whether as entrepreneurs or in traditional or craft jobs. This partnership symbolizes a shared commitment to empowerment, growth, and the unlimited potential of entrepreneurs in both countries.”
