UN Security Council reaffirms support for Guterres after Israel declares him ‘persona non grata’

The United Nations Security Council on Thursday reaffirmed its “full” support for Secretary-General António Guterres after Israel declared him “persona non grata” for not immediately condemning the Iranian missile attack against it on Tuesday. In a statement that did not mention Israel, the Council’s 15 members stressed the need for all UN member states to maintain a productive and effective relationship with the Secretary-General.
