Army and Joint Forces Attack Militia Positions East of El Fasher

Sudan Events – Agencies
On Sunday, the Sudanese army and joint forces of allied armed groups attacked RSF positions in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, marking the first such offensive in nearly three months during which the army had defended its positions against attacks.
The assault coincided with the arrival of military reinforcements for the joint forces in El Fasher, which has been besieged by the RSF since April.
Joint Forces spokesperson Ahmed Hussein Mustafa told “Darfur 24” that the army, joint forces, and popular resistance “completely obliterated enemy positions and are advancing on all fronts.”
Mustafa confirmed the arrival of military reinforcements for the joint forces in El Fasher but did not disclose their size.
According to “Darfur 24,” a convoy of combat vehicles belonging to the armed struggle movements had arrived in the city.
A military source from the 6th Infantry Division, who requested anonymity, told “Darfur 24” that RSF forces had been pushed out of most of their positions east of El Fasher.
He added, “Our forces are now stationed at the Mellit gate north of El Fasher after pushing RSF forces out of the Abu Ja camp for displaced persons.”
On Sunday, the city witnessed intermittent artillery shelling by the RSF, targeting the Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons, resulting in casualties.
In a separate development, local sources told “Darfur 24” that the body of Abd al-Karim Abkar, a manager at one of the aviation companies, was found in mysterious circumstances in El Fasher.
The security forces attended the scene and launched an investigation into the incident, discovering Abkar’s body with gunshot wounds.
