French League: Lyon Continues Winning Streak with Victory Over Nantes

Lyon achieved its fourth consecutive victory in various competitions, defeating visiting Nantes 2-0 on Sunday in the seventh round of Ligue 1.

According to the French Press Agency, Lyon’s two goals were scored by Argentine Nicolas Tagliafico (22) and Nicolas Palou (own goal, 54).

Lyon started strongly after Tagliafico opened the scoring following a corner kick that created chaos in Nantes’ penalty area, before the Argentine nudged a ball from Algerian Said Benrahma into the far corner of the net (22). Lyon, seven-time French champions, had to wait until the beginning of the second half to double their lead, needing assistance from Nantes’ defender Palou, who attempted to clear the ball but inadvertently sent it into his own net (54).

With this victory, Lyon moved up to seventh place with ten points, just one point behind ninth-placed Nantes, which has failed to win for the fourth consecutive match after two draws and one loss in the last three rounds.

Later, Brest will face Le Havre, Reims will play Montpellier, and Strasbourg will take on Lens, while reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain will visit Nice. PSG aims to avoid handing the top spot to Monaco, who currently leads by three points over the capital club, awaiting the latter’s match.
