On Sunday, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) carried out a series of arrests targeting dozens of individuals in Kutum and Kassab refugee camp in North Darfur, restricting the movement of displaced people and preventing them from leaving the camp. The RSF also banned the use of satellite internet devices like “Starlink.”
The RSF’s actions against civilians in Kutum, northwest of El Fasher, followed fierce clashes last week between the Sudanese army-allied joint forces and the RSF in areas including Bir Mazza and Bredik, near Kutum.
Human rights activist Mudathir Hussein Mustafa told “Sudan Tribune” that the RSF had conducted mass arrests of civilians in Kutum and Kassab camp, assaulted dozens, and expelled them from their homes after accusing them of supporting armed groups.
Mustafa revealed that the RSF had imposed a strict curfew in the town and camp, beginning at 4 PM and lasting until the following morning, accompanied by house raids for looting and assaults on residents.
He also noted that orders had been issued to close Kutum’s main market and ban the use of “Starlink” satellite internet devices.
