Gold Exports Decline
Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
Atif Ahmed, former head of the Sudanese Goldsmiths, Traders, and Exporters Union, revealed a decline in gold exports. Speaking to Al-Ahdath, he attributed the decline to the lack of purchases of export earnings, which he believes has led to a slowdown in export activities. He emphasized that “the Central Bank of Sudan should instruct commercial banks to purchase export earnings.” He further explained that no earnings have been purchased for over ten days, warning that this could lead to smuggling. Ahmed cited a recent case of gold smuggling that was intercepted.
