Sudan Events – Follow-ups
The government of White Nile State, in coordination with UNICEF, has succeeded in providing 159 barrels of chloride to purify drinking water for the new Kosti (JICA) water station. This comes as part of the government’s efforts to provide clean drinking water for the state’s citizens by supplying chlorine to water stations across all localities.
Engineer Tayeb Mohamed Al-Hassan, acting Minister of Infrastructure and Urban Development in the state, said, according to SUNA, that his ministry has been in continuous contact with companies and organizations working in the state to ensure the availability of chlorine, ensuring the water station’s operation and stabilizing the water supply in Kosti amidst the state’s security conditions. He added that repair work on broken water lines continues to ensure all residential areas have access to clean drinking water.
He expressed his gratitude to UNICEF and the companies for their contribution in providing chlorine, ensuring the continuous operation of the stations during the country’s exceptional circumstances.
Engineer Rahma Imam Hamad, General Director of Water Management in the state, confirmed that the new drinking water station in Kosti is operating well after receiving 160 barrels of poly-aluminum chloride provided by UNICEF as part of a joint support program for water management in the state. He thanked the organization for its prompt response and clear interventions in stabilizing the operation of water stations.
