Tolls Imposed on Goods Transportation

Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
The former treasurer of the National Chamber of Importers, Hashem Al-Fadil, revealed that multiple entities have imposed tolls on goods transport between states, with charges imposed every 150 kilometers.
In his statement to (Al-Ahdath), he complained about the rising cost of transporting goods, describing it as the biggest challenge for the movement of goods and a primary reason for the increase in consumer prices. He pointed out that transportation costs during the rainy season reached what he described as astronomical figures, though they have started to decrease gradually. He explained that the cost of transporting goods from Al-Daba to western Sudan ranges between 30–40 million pounds per (Hino) truck, while transportation to Kosti costs 20 million pounds. He added that the biggest issue is that the main route to most cities is now via Al-Daba due to the closure of the Medani–Sennar road.
