Several citizens from the town of Katal, south of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, reported on Sunday that fierce battles took place between the joint forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
An eyewitness told “Darfur 24” that he saw an attack launched by armed groups on an RSF position, which was preventing the delivery of food and fuel to El Fasher.
He pointed out that fierce battles ensued between the two sides, lasting until Sunday afternoon, though “Darfur 24” could not verify if there were civilian casualties during the fighting.
A local leader in Shengel Tobay, southwest of El Fasher, confirmed that they heard heavy gunfire from the southeast of the town, prompting farmers to return, fearing violence after learning about the joint forces’ attack on the RSF position.
