China’s Norinco returns to mining in Sudan

The Chinese mining company Norinco announced its intention to return and resume operations in Sudan after halting due to the war and the rebellion of the Rapid Support Forces. The General Director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohammed Taher Omar, discussed the technical and administrative aspects of Norinco’s return with the company’s management, in the presence of Consultant Geologist Yasser Mustafa, the head of the General Directorate of Exploration Companies.
Mohammed Taher urged the company’s management to double their efforts to complete the technical and administrative work and promised to facilitate the company’s operations swiftly. The Sudanese Mineral Resources Company had sent a technical and security team with the company’s management to conduct a field visit to the company’s sites in the Nile State to ensure the security situation. Norinco’s return follows discussions held by the General Director of the company during his recent trip to China, accompanying the President of the Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and attending the China-Africa Business Forum.
