Urgent Red Cross Appeal to Evacuate “Tuti” Residents

Sudan Events – Follow-ups
Activists issued an urgent humanitarian appeal to the International Committee of the Red Cross for immediate intervention to oversee the evacuation of the residents of Tuti Island in Khartoum to protect them from violations by the Rapid Support Forces.
In an urgent humanitarian plea, the Khartoum Resistance Committees Coordination stated that the remaining residents of Tuti Island are suffering from a siege and various daily violations, as the RSF is holding them as hostages, forcing them into labor and using them as human shields.
The committees confirmed that the RSF prevents residents from leaving the island, imposing exorbitant fees for their safe exit to more secure areas.
The statement continued, “Therefore, we, the Khartoum Resistance Committees Coordination, urgently appeal to the International Committee of the Red Cross for immediate intervention to oversee the evacuation of Tuti Island residents and reduce the violations they are subjected to by the RSF.”
